Boomtown, renowned for its boundary-pushing approach to music and sustainability, is proud to announce the introduction of a revolutionary new stage for this year’s event – HYDRO – a stage entirely powered by hydrogen. This groundbreaking achievement has been made possible through an exciting collaboration with Hydrologiq, a Hydrogen power business at the forefront of sustainable energy solutions.
HYDRO will showcase the best in 4x4 music, including house, techno, and disco, while making history as the first stage powered by hydrogen at a major festival in the UK. The stage will be powered by Hydrogen fuel cell generators which produce clean, emission-free electricity, only emitting water vapour as a by-product. Managing the project, the partnership with Hydrologiq will lower supply chain CO2e emissions and reduce local and on-site emissions.
Unveiling the full stage lineup today, new additions include Bristol’s own Eats Everything, a globally acclaimed DJ and producer celebrated for his deep roots in garage, breaks, and jungle. Joining him is Ben Hemsley, a standout in the UK house and techno scene and Saoirse, whose genre-spanning career bridges diverse sonic worlds and subcultures. Alongside them, techno icons D.A.V.E. The Drummer B2B Chris Liberator, known for their influence in the harder end of techno. These new names join an already impressive roster featuring The Blessed Madonna, Honey Dijon, I Hate Models, James Hype, Jayda G, and more.
Also announced today, Fuse, the legendary UK-based underground house and techno collective, will take over the Hydro Stage for an exclusive high-energy takeover at Boomtown 2025. Hailing from East London, Fuse has earned its place as a defining force in the underground scene with its deep, minimal, and groovy sounds, offering a stripped-back approach to dance music. Expect a heavyweight lineup led by co-founder Enzo Siragusa, whose iconic sets have shaped the collective’s legacy. Joining him is Chris Stussy, a key figure in the modern house movement, L.P. Rhythm, bringing nostalgic 90s house with a fresh twist, Moxie B2B Laidlaw with a dynamic back-to-back performance, and Reeshy - all delivering next-level energy at Boomtown 2025.
"Unbelievably happy to finally launch a major festival stage running entirely on hydrogen power,” said Luke Mitchell, Boomtown Co-founder and Creative Director. “It’s been a real challenge to make this work, but unless we take these big leaps and think creatively, we won’t see the shift that’s so urgently needed. My hope is that this sparks momentum in the right direction - paving the way for temporary events to move towards a truly net-zero future. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see where it leads."
This is not the first collaboration between Boomtown and Hydrologiq; In 2022, Hydrologiq deployed a hydrogen-powered generator which provided power to the public transport hub for the week preceding the festival and all four days of its runtime. With Boomtown focusing on creating a sustainable event for its 65,000 attendees and staff, the generator’s location meant that, for many, their first engagement with the festival site was with emissions-free power.
“In 2022 we delivered Boomtown's first hydrogen installation, powering the public transport hub,” said Benjamin Lindley, Hydrologiq COO and Co-founder. “ That clean, quiet generator was the first thing Boomtown citizens saw when they got off the bus. And in 2025, it's fantastic to see Boomtown put hydrogen right at the centre of the city, powering a main stage. Boomtown's partners Hydrologiq will be managing the installation via their operations platform HydrologiqOS - remotely monitoring fuel levels and organising compliant operations on the ground - so that we can safely replace diesel and save tonnes of carbon emissions.”
With hundreds of artists still to be announced, Boomtown’s musical programme is shaping up to be a vibrant tapestry of sound, featuring everything from hip-hop and post-punk to reggae, world music, folk, and beyond. With genres spanning drum and bass, techno, house, rock, jungle, disco, and psytrance, the lineup promises a sonic journey like no other.
With a strong emphasis on environmental activism, the festival is a dynamic platform for action through a rich fusion of music, culture, and advocacy. Continuing Boomtown’s tradition of extraordinary entertainment, featuring immersive narratives, modern circus performances, art, and dance, rounded-off with jaw-dropping production, are three guiding pillars: Creativity, Connection, and Celebration, with the core values of Respect yourself, Respect each other, and Respect the planet inspiring every interaction.
Boomtown Chapter 4: Power Of Now comes Matterley Estate, Hampshire on Weds 6 - Sun 10 Aug 2025.
