DAVE HAUSE

Hause’s songs have always been rooted in tangible reality - of emotion, of environment and of circumstance.

Since releasing his debut album, Resolutions, the Philadelphia-born songwriter has poured his whole heart, soul and life into his music. That’s no different on Drive It Like It’s Stolen’s ten songs – all overflowing with Hause’s trademark urgency and passion, shimmering with a truth that reflects the harsh realities of life in this day and age.

ANTONY SZMIEREK

Sat 29 March

Concorde 2, Brighton

From poetry slams to opening for the world’s most iconic electronic acts, there’s no stage that Szmierek can’t dominate. Now, this Manchester wordsmith is hitting the UK’s venues on a huge headline tour. He released his debut album, Service Station At The End Of The Universe, last month to huge acclaim.

Fizzing with funky basslines, retro sounds and socially conscious lyrics, it dismantles modern society with a wit and charm few can match. Cutting his teeth on the Lancashire spoken word scene, he’s gained notoriety for his seamless flow - skewering everything from the hardships of contemporary British life to finding the unexpected beauty in the everyday. But it was the release of 2023’s single The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Fallacy which truly kicked off this meteoric ascent.

ALABAMA 3 by Rob Blackham

ALABAMA 3

Sun 30 March

Concorde 2, Brighton

The world’s greatest Country Acid House Music band are back. Admittedly, they’re not from Alabama, there's not three of them, but all other statements are true. Finding fame for The Sopranos’ TV theme, these Brixton-based party-starters have always kept it real. In their own words: “Alabama 3 is a pop band, a punk rock, blues and country techno situationist crypto-Marxist-Leninist electro band.”

With a fistful of blotters and half a dozen disco biscuits, they’ve made it up as they went along. Nobody can sing the blues like them. Now, as ministers in the First Presleyterian Church of Elvis the Divine, they continue to preach their gospel around the world. Whether you’ve lived a good life or a bad life, let them into your heart and party with them - because they will look after you.
